Tot Shabbat

For kids under six and their family and friends. Songs, prayers, stories and snacks included. Everyone is welcome. Tot Shabbat is held the third Saturday of every month from 10:30-11:30am at Bridgeport.

From our facilitators:
Starting on March 20, the format of Tot Shabbat is changing.  Lisa and Aron have agreed to take over the role of coordination from Carrie Bartlett. Ilana Cohen will be leading this new Shabbat service.  Ilana, for any who don’t know her, has occasionally led family services in the Rabbi’s absence.  She is also great with kids. (She is a great babysitter, too, in our personal experience!)

In terms of format, we wanted to differentiate it from Torah Tots, which will continue to be lead by Morah (teacher) Philippa.  Tot Shabbat will now be a kid-friendly, mini version of the Saturday service with lots of fun and movement geared towards children ages 0-5 and their parents.

One aspect of Tot Shabbat that we plan to keep is Shayna the Shabbat dog, who goes home with the child/family that volunteers to bring snack that month.  We encourage everyone to write in her Shabbat log and take pictures of Shayna lighting Shabbat candles, hiding the Afikomen, etc., to be shared with the group and gathered into a year-end album.

Lisa and Aron will provide the healthy snack oneg for this month’s service.  We will bring a signup sheet for people who would like to volunteer for future Tot Shabbats. If you have questions, feel free to contact the office: adminasst.shirtikvah@gmail.com or 503-473-8227.
